Like most watercolor painters, I love the medium. I love the luminescent quality of the paint, and the way the paper shows through it. Watercolor is versatile--you can have light, transparent sections, and dark, opaque sections in the same painting.  A painting can go from very realistic, almost photographic, to vague, abstract suggestions--again, in the same painting. And the medium is so challenging to use that you never run the risk of getting bored. Light, and the way it can be described through color and contrast, is always the common denominator in my work. I want the images to be interesting from a distance, but also invite close examination.
